There were few surprises in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday - and an unsavoury incident during Kukesi v Legia Warsaw.
Jonas Hofmann scored the only goal of the game as Borussia Dortmund won 1-0 at Wolfsberger AC - not to be confused with their Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg.
Other favourites such as Athletic Bilbao (2-0 winners over Inter Baku) and Bordeaux (3-0 winners over AEK Larnaca) got their first-leg ties off to smooth starts, but Sampdoria were humbled 4-0 at home to Vojvodina.
FK Kukesi fans threw stones at visiting Legia Warsaw players as their match was abandoned. Legia midfielder Ondrej Duda was struck by a stone and fell to the grass in Tirana.
Medical staff bandaged his head on the pitch. The Polish side said on Twitter that they expected to be awarded the victory in the tournament's third qualifying round after the incident.
On the British front, West Ham saw a 2-0 lead disintegrate after the sending-off of James Collins as they draw 2-2 with Astra Giurgiu at Upton Park.
Southampton cruised past Vitesse Arnhem 3-0 while Aberdeen - whose 65 travelling fans endured the longest trip in the history of UEFA competitions at 5,495km - lost 2-1 at Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan, albeit with a valuable away goal to take to Scotland.
