The Catholic Bishop of Ho, The Right Reverend Francis AnaniLodonu, on Thursday called for patience and tolerance from Ghanaians in 2010 as government works to meet their aspirations.
Bishop Lodonu in a New message through the Ghana News Agency in Ho, asked Ghanaians to show their love to the President through prayers and give the government more encouragement rather than intimidation.
"We must stop shouting too much and rather thirst for good governance which the President promised us," he urged.
Bishop Lodonu expressed concern about the upsurge of petty quarrels, disputes and killings all over the country and called on Christians and other religious leaders to preach peace and justice.
He urged the Judiciary to encourage and strengthen the Alternative Dispute Resolution system to reduce tension in families, communities and in the courts.
Bishop Lodonu also urged the populace to protect the environment in the coming year as the first step towards seeking peace on earth.
The Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church, expressed worry about the lawlessness, apathy and despondency that were taking hold in society.
He said lackadaisical attitude to work, poor time-management culture, as well as indiscipline on the roads and other acts of indiscipline were capable of undermining investment efforts in the country.
"There is the fervent need for government regulatory bodies, the media, and civil society organizations including religious bodies to rise to the task and collaborate with government to propel the country to greater heights," he said.
The Rt. Rev. Amenu urged the people to remain committed to the principles of democracy and rally behind the government for the rapid development of the country.
