The spiritual war at Achiase

When Prophet Michael Osei travelled to Achiase, in the Amansie district of Ashanti Region, last week to exhume the spiritual pot belonging to an eleven-year-old witch who had been exorcised at the Ebenezer Healing Church, little did he know that he would face stiff opposition in the town. The girl, Patricia, had practised witchcraft for five years and, practically overturned the fortunes of her family. She was exorcised by Prophet Michael Osei of the Ebenezer Healing Church, Kasoa, after she delivered a live snake in the presence of hundreds of worshippers during an all-night service at the church's premises last month. God revealed to the holy man that the spiritual pot belonging to Pat in her hometown, Achiase, would have to be exhumed before the witchcraft spirit allegedly given to her by a grandmother, would be totally off her. Opposition came from the witches' camps in the area and the evil ones, according to the prophet, mounted a full spiritual and physical attack on him and his prayer warriors who went with him. "When we reached the town, the first thing I saw was a 10-year-old-boy who was playing with his colleagues in an open space. He was walking about upside down, that is, his head was on the ground, his legs high in the air with fire coming out from his backside (anus). "In shock I said, 'Hei!' and the boy responded, 'Phew! Hwe so ko,' (meaning 'go your way'). "My followers heard the boy and asked me why the boy said that to me. I told them that they should be prepared for the worst in the town," said the man of God. According to the prophet, since there is no police station and a chief in the town, he and his team went to the local queen-mother to pay a courtesy call and to tell the elders of their mission in the town. Even before they could get there, a large number of people, both young and old, from the town and villages around had gathered waiting to hear what brought the team to the town. "After we told them of our mission, some of the young men started shouting that if we failed to exhume the pot, they would 'finish' us for disgracing their town," Prophet Osei told journalists. Some of them cast insinuations and insulted the prophet, calling him fake and powerless. Others said he could do what he was saying. It was a tense situation. The queen-mother, as well as some of the young men were, however, supportive of the mission and gave the prophet the permission to go ahead. She, however, told the team that a jujuman had earlier come to the town to try to perform some rites for the success of the town but it was to no avail after he collected GH¢15, 000 from the people. The queen-mother lamented the chronic poverty that had gripped the people in the area and said if anything could be done to reverse it, the people would be most appreciative. "We then went to the house in which Patricia's spiritual pot had been buried but before we could start exhuming it, the old lady who gave the witchcraft to Patricia rushed on us and said she would not allow us to exhume the pot and that it was the property of her family. "There was a direct confrontation which resulted in some of the young men bringing in cutlasses, cudgels and stones to 'finish' the prophet and his team if they 'dared tried to exhume the pot' "Suddenly a man emerged from among the people with a locally-made rifle 'ateaboofre' ostensibly to shoot the prophet. All this time, the people were shouting and raining insults on me and my team." As soon as the man aimed the rifle at the prophet, he raised his hands in prayer and immediately something happened. 'The man with the gun started sweating and shaking hysterically. His legs gave way as the rifle fell down. Soon after, he collapsed in a heap. "The place became quite; people did not know what was happening. As the hush fell among the crowd, the man got up from the ground and started begging for mercy. "Raised cudgels, stones and cutlasses began to go down. Someone from among the crowd shouted 'Odiyifoo woye buei' ..... "Others joined in chorus 'Odiyifoo woye gigim', 'Odiyifoo woye too much', 'Odiyifoo ye w'adwuma' ... It reverberated into a crescendo among the now enchanted crowd as the people surged forward to hail the prophet." The man with the gun who was disabled by the spirit probably saved the prophet and his team from being lynched in the town. Then the business of digging out the spiritual pot began in earnest. This time, the youth of the town who were initially against the idea took hold of spade and pick-axes and dug for the pot on the instructions of the prophet. "The pot kept running from place to place and even went as far as to the local cemetery, the public toilet and then went to a point where it could no longer run, so we caught up with it and dug it out. "The town’s people marvelled at a bundle which was attached to the pot. Money, money, money ...money in almost all currencies of the world some of them dating back to the 1900s ...spiritual money which had come out physically! As for, the local currency, there were millions of cedis of them." According to the prophet, the money was what the witch had whisked from family members over the years to impoverish them; collapsing their businesses in the process. It also included taxes levied on travellers who passed through witches' territories. Inside the pot itself were a huge snake, a piece of cloth and some old coins. When the pot was finally exhumed, the young men in the town could not help but carry the prophet shoulder-high through the principal streets of the town for the miracles he performed. Prior to the journey, the holy man had told this reporter that the trip would be dangerous because the witches at the little girl's camp had prepared themselves to make sure that his objective of exhuming the pot and thereby bringing disgrace upon the whole camp would not be achieved. "They have armed themselves fully to disrupt the programme if we should reach the town peacefully but on the way we will face many problems because they would cross us and put many dangerous obstacles in our way, but we shall overcome them," he said. So on Sunday, December 13 2009, Prophet Osei, together with his spiritual father, Prophet Kwaku Darkwa and the prayer warriors left Accra, through the Kasoa-Bawjiase road on their way to Kumasi. The problems started as soon as the team reached Anyinam. Stay tuned Source: The Spectator
