In the past five weeks, The Spectator newspaper has been following the miracles of Prophet Michael Osei, the firebrand spiritualist who has dared witches and wizards across the length and breadth of the country, causing them to bow to a superior power.
His divine exploits and spiritual gains over the princes of darkness and satanic forces have made him popular among those who believe in the supremacy of the power of God over all earthly and spiritual matters.
The Spectator says it has received many letters from its highly-honoured readers concerning Pastor¬ Michael Osei. Basically, they all want to know who he is. We take this opportunity to satisfy the curiosity of readers. Please read on.
"I did not acquire my spiritual powers on this earth; I came with it from heaven. I was born with a small holy cross in my hand," Prophet Osei told this paper in an interview at his Kasoa residence on Thursday.
Prophet Osei said his miracles come directly from God through the holy cross which he has used for the past 26 years to perform many wonders and saved many souls for Christ.
The prophet was born at Taaboso-Ayerdo near Swedru in the Central Region.
His mother, Madam Abena Mansah and father, Mr. M.K. Okai from Anum Boso, are both farmers.
Narrating the history of his miracles, Prophet Osei said in the eight months into her pregnancy, his mother, then living with her husband at Taaboso, went to the local river in a forest to fetch water at about 5.30 a.m.
On her way back, he met a man in white apparel with symbols of the cross sewn into it. He was also holding a Bible, a cross and some leaves.
The man told her that the child she was carrying in his womb was a special person from God who would perform wonders and deliver many people from the devil's grips. She should, therefore, be careful with the pregnancy and be prayerful in everything she would do from that day onwards.
"He then gave my mother the Bible, the leaves and the cross and told her that the child would bring something special from God physically in his hands and that she should ensure that whatever it is was kept well until the child grows."
According to Prophet Osei, the man instructed her mother to always put the Bible and the cross under her pillow and bathe with the leaves in the water until delivery and then do same to the infant after his birth.
"As soon as my mother received the items from the unknown man, she started talking in tongues, as the man vanished from the scene," he said.
"My mother could not express herself in our own language for the next one month until I was delivered. As soon as I came out of her, she got her tongue back," he stated. "During my delivery, the midwife was surprised to see that my tight fist was clasped around something. She tried to open my palm but she could not. She tried it several times to no avail.
"My mother told the midwife to leave my fist alone and asked for my father' to be pre-sent. When he came, my mother gently took my hand, opened it and saw the cross nestling in my palm. That was when she told my father the message the strange man had given to her about me and what I had come to this world to do."
Prophet Osei said his parents kept the cross very close to him and always slept with it together with the Bible under his pillow.
,
"At a very tender age, I began to perform miracles, healing the sick and prophesying to the amazement of many people. People could not believe that at age five I could do things like praying for the sick and using leaves and or water to cure," he said.
I went to school but in my possessed state, it was terrible for the teachers and pupils. I was seeing things which as a child I should not see; things which compelled me to leave school at a tender age in Class Six.
According to Prophet Osei, between nine and 15 years of age, the spirit of God used him in a way that made him wander around the Central and Eastern regions without the knowledge of his parents. Efforts by his parents to curb his perambulation came to naught and they let him to himself. The spirit let him wander like a possessed man and took him to many towns and villages and even hamlets and he often slept in the bush.
"Later, at Akofikrom near Asamankese, I met a man of God called Prophet Kweku, who spiritually saw what purpose God had for me. He asked me to- stay with him and to help him propagate the word of God.
"The spirit asked me to stay with him and help with his work. By His grace, God stabilised me in Prophet Kweku's household for the next 12 years during which I learnt a lot working for the Lord and performed many wonders during my service. I also had a deeper insight into the Bible and was much blessed with knowledge," he said.
"After working with Prophet Kweku for the 12-year period, the spirit directed me to Bibiani, Nkawkaw and then to Afosu where I healed the sick, attacked and rooted out evil spirits that tormented people.
"Individuals also invited me to several towns and villages across the country to help them with their spiritual ailments. All this while, I was not going on air or giving myself any publicity and so little was known about me but my miracles continued to make me popular among some circles," he said.
According to Prophet Osei, earlier this year, he was directed by the spirit to come to Kasoa where he began his main ministry and set up a church, Ebenezer Prayer Ministry, located at Brigade.
He first came into the limelight when he removed and destroyed a powerful fetish object which seven witches had taken over to destroy a household at Senya Beraku in the Central Region.
'He has also exorcised many people and destroyed their witchcraft. They include a 16-year-old girl from Lashibi, in Accra, a 19-year-old girl at Kasoa who had used her witchcraft to kill 150 people, an 11-year-old girl who gave birth to a snake, a 13-year-old girl who delivered a frog from her private part and another girl who delivered a tortoise.
All the deliveries happened at the church premises in the presence of hundreds of onlookers.
According to him, the best part of his miracles are yet to be performed, adding that he is directed by the Holy Spirit in whatever he does.
