The Greater Accra Police Command says its investigations into the mysterious deaths of four people in the capital city might drag if residents do not provide leads and tip-offs.
Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Kwaku Dompreh, said the police require the cooperation of residents to be able to arrest the perpetrators.
“It will be difficult for any police to operate in a vacuum,” Mr Dompreh told Joy Midday News anchor Matilda Asante Asiedu, explaining that the police are looking into the suspicious deaths of four persons in and around Abossey Okai.
The latest killing occurred at Abossey Okai on Tuesday in which case the lifeless body of a man believed to be in his 30s was found in front of an internet café. There have been similar cases in Agege, Laterbiokorshie, Dansoman and the Town Council Line, all in the Ablekuma South constituency.
The police PR ruled out reports that body parts of the latest victim had been removed. According to him, police found the deceased “intact” but certain marks found on the body gives a hint of murder.
He indicated that the police would deal with the cases separately as it has no evidence to support assertions of ritual killings.
The strange deaths are pushing the police to increase patrols around the areas as residents live in intense fear.
