Two weeks after Awo Tawiah, a 17 year old unemployed was brought from Agona Swedru to work as a house help, she decided to ransack the house hold items worth over 10 million cedis.
Luck, however eluded Awo when after a year long search, she was spotted and arrested.
The items she stole included DVD player, suit cases, among others.
Police Inspector Philip Bebli, prosecuting told the court presided over by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi that on May 26 last year Awo was brought from Agona Swedru to assist Madam Constance Boateng, a business woman.
Two weeks after her arrival, that is on June 17th at 2pm when Madam Boateng returned from work, she found that the main gate had been locked and Awo was no where to be found.
When she finally entered the house, she found that the doors had been left open and almost everything in the sitting room was gone.
She then informed Awo’s mother as well as the police. Some of the items were later recovered at Kasoa and sent to the Agona Swedru police by a relative of Awo.
A few days later, Awo was spotted and arrested and when questioned, she admitted the offence.
Meanwhile, items worth 6 million cedis have been recovered.
Justice Abodakpi convicted her on her own plea but remanded her in Juvenile custody to reappear on May 17.
