Italian side Bologna are desperate to secure the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of midfielder Stephen Appiah to aid the struggling Serie A side.
The Ghana captain has been in good training form for the club since signing for them three weeks ago.
Appiah, who played for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, must receive his ITC from the Turkey Football Federation before he is cleared to play.
The midfielder secured his work permit from the Italian immigration authorities last week but he must also get the ITC to enable him feature for the club.
Appiah joined the club three weeks ago but has not been to play for the club so far because the Turkish FA has been reluctant to release his papers because of his acrimonious departure from Fenerbahce.
But a Bologna club source has told Ghanasoccernet that they will apply for a temporal ITC from Fifa by next week if the Turkish FA fails to send the ITC.
This will enable Appiah to play for Bologna as coach Franco Colomba is keen on using the Ghana captain who has been in good form in training.
Bologna are currently 16th on the table and they think Appiah will boost their chances of avoid relegation.
