Ghana defender John Painstil has described the tempo of the First Capital Plus Premier League as slow and has charged clubs to adopt more aggressive playing styles.
A veteran of English and Israeli top flight football, Paintsil says he's watched a few local league games and isn't impressed.
“I have seen some of the games since I came back especially Hearts of Oak’s games and what I can say is that the league is going well but the tempo must go up,” Paintsil told Joy Sports.
"The league here is very slow as compared to the ones I have seen here in Africa," said the man who now plays in the South African Premier League with Maritzburg United,
With 10 matches to end the season, AshGold is leading the pack with 37 points while the bottom place team, BA United, has 16 points
“We are doing well but I believe when there is more sponsorship and good facilties with players and coaches we can lift the standard of play, the ball is in our court to make things happen here in Ghana.”
Painstil played for Berekum Arsenals and Liberty Professionals when he played in the local top flight before going to Europe.
