The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur has inspected work on a 2.5-kilometre road from the Moree junction to the town to ascertain whether allegations being made against the contractor were fair.
The contract for the ¢3.1 billion project was awarded by the Department of Feeder Roads to the Gudmann International, a local construction firm, in 2005 and was expected to be completed in August last year.
Mr Arthur said he had received complaints of shoddy work, small drainages and culverts and lack of pedestrian walkways.
Nana Arthur who was accompanied by the District Chief Executive, Mr Joe Marking, the Regional Engineer of the Department of Feeder Roads, Mr John Obeng Asiedu and other officials met drivers and people from the area to receive their grievances about the project.
It came out that all the allegations being made were false as some of the drainages and culverts the people were claiming to be small were not part of the contract.
Mr Kobla Amudzi-Deku, the Managing Director of the firm, said the project was delayed due to delay in payment by the government and the unavailability of chippings last year and that it would be completed within the next two weeks.
Nana Arthur advised the people to be grateful instead of making unfounded allegations and also tasked the drivers to ensure that rickety and unlicensed vehicles were removed from the road to ensure the safety of passengers.
