Speaker of Parliament, Joyce Bamford Addo, has expressed her profound gratitude to Members of Parliament for their concern for her safety. The speaker escaped unscathed when her car was involved in a minor accident on Tuesday morning. She was on her way to work when the accident occurred. Her car suffered a minor dent, after an MP allegedly bumped his car into hers’ in an attempt to join her convoy. Mrs Addo steered the affairs of the House throughout Wednesday without saying a word about the accident. She however broke her silence on the accident during sittings on Thursday. “I thank the House for wishing me well and happy to see me so well and unhurt,” she said in response to a motion of felicitation moved by a member of the house. “Those who are in favour say aye,” she said, provoking laughter and shouts of ayes from the members. “You said everything that concerns me concerns the house and the reverse is true too. Anything that concerns any member here concerns me. So it cuts both ways and I am happy that when you heard, you thought you had to mention it,” she assured. “Already I have put the question and the ayes have it,” she ruled.
