Sports administrator and manager of the Agoo Magazine, Mr. Kojo Bonsu has discounted claims he has his sights on the Ghana Football Association’s presidency.
Kojo Bonsu, also a member of the government’s committee to oversee activities of the Black Satellites after the team won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, told Patrick Osei-Agyemang, host of Asempa FM’s afternoon sports program Fire for Fire” that the FA position is an elective one and cannot therefore be handed anybody.
He also believes the present FA team deserves all the support they can get as they seek to grow Ghana football.
Allegations have been rife of Mr. Bonsu using his connections and contacts in the government to scheme his way to the post, however Mr. Bonsu said those are baseless allegations being invented by his detractors to tarnish his hard won reputation and drag his image in the mud.
He says, after contesting the FA President at elections, he believes those elected must be allowed to carry out their lawfully mandated duty in the interest of football and Ghana.
Mr. Bonsu also said with President J.E.A. Mills being a former football administrator, he will not allow himself to be misdirected by any individual.
The Satellite committee member explained that the committee requires time extension beyond the next Monday deadline to round up its activities and told Asempa Sports that donations are still coming in from benevolent individuals and corporate bodies to enhance the package already given to the satellites.
Government on Monday, November 2, announced a rewarding package for the Black Satellites comprising a 1.6 cylinder Toyota Corolla saloon car and a cash reward of $5,000.
