Ghana's Joseph King Kong Agbeko early Sunday lost his IBF Bamtamweight title by a unanimous decision to Yohnny Perez at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The judges scored the bout 116-111, 117-110, 117-110 all in favour of the Colombian.
It is the first major title for Perez who has a fight record (20-0, 14 KOs), today's bout inclusive.
The bout undoubtedly was close and could have gone either way.
Pundits however believed a split decision would have been a true reflection of what transpired after 12 grueling rounds.
The results effectively ended King-Kong's two years domination of the division and would be looking forward for a re-match.
