A state burial would be held today to bid farewell to the designer of Ghana’s national flag Theodosia Okoh at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
She will later be laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery.
The state funeral - expected to start at 9 am - will be attended by government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the clergy, members of parliament and high-ranking politicians, all of whom will be expected to deliver tributes to one of Ghana's illustrious women.
Hundreds of Ghanaians especially those in the sports fraternity are expected to pay their last respect to the late stateswoman who died on April 19, 2015, at the age of 92.
Stanley Okoh, one of the sons of the late stateswoman, said a thanksgiving service will be held at the Ridge Church on Sunday, May 31, after which the family will gather at her residence for the final funeral rites.
Madam Okoh is also celebrated for her immense contribution to the development of sports in the country.
Mrs Okoh was a national hockey star and the first and only female chair of the Ghana Hockey Association.
Until her death, she was a patron of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
Mrs Okoh is survived by three children: Kwasi Okoh, Stanley Kwame Okoh and Theodosia Amma Jones-Quartey.
