The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has commended Nestle Ghana Limited, manufacturers of Milo, for their direct and continuous support of grassroot football development in the country.
Speaking at the launch of the MILO® Under 13 Champions League at Studio1 of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, president Nyantekyi said the various Milo juvenile programmes which is aimed at unearthing talents for the nation has to a large extent chalked a lot of success in churning out quality players like Michael Essien, John Mensah, Sulley Muntari and Stephen Appiah for the national teams especially the Black Stars.
“Our various national teams, no doubt have benefited from the Milo juvenile program. The initiative is laudable and we must commend Milo for that” Nyantekyi said.
President Nyantekyi indicated that the Football Association just like Nestle MILO® is also committed to promoting the combination of education and football in the country hence the introduction of the Books and Books project by the FA.
“The GFA has been very active in promoting the combination of education and football. It is our resolve that the right way to go is to encourage school going boys and girls to play football.
Many years in the past people thought that playing football was the preserve of school dropouts but it has been proven over the years that people who are academically inclined and successful in the field of academia can equally record the same level of success in football,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said.
The competition which will begin on the 28th of May 2015 across the nation. The ten regional champions will battle for honours at the national finals at the Paa Joe Park at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from 9th to the 11th 0f July 2015.
