Asante Kotoko coach, Bashir Hayford has pleaded with followers of the club to spare his players the agony of blame especially after their shocking loss to Sekondi Hasaacas.
According to the clubs mouthpiece, the Kotoko Express, the head coach has been blamed by the Management of the club as well as majority of the supporters but some of the supporters have also been blaming the playing body for underrating Hasaacas.
But Bashir Hayford believes that much as the players were on the field of play, he has accepted the blame for the defeat because he selected the players for the match.
The coach told the Kotoko Express that there are bad days in football so are there mistakes but the most important thing is to move ahead and strategise for the two remaining matches in the Onetouch Premier League against Berekum Arsenals and Accra Great Olympics.
Hayford said he has accepted the challenge from management to qualify the club for the CAF Champions League. He said that is not beyond Kotoko explaining that the team started training a day after the loss to Hasaacas to show how serious he was to correct the mistakes of the past.
He hopes mother luck smile on Kotoko in the two remaining matches and noted that he has in turn challenged his players to justify why they should be part of the Kotoko team next season with good showing in the remaining matches.
