After months of in-depth background research and series of tests, LocateMeGhana.com, an internet interactive map, has been established in Ghana.
The site is designed to give firms in Ghana an opportunity to have their exact locations displayed in the most graphical form possible on the Internet without any trouble.
Mr. Daniel Olalekan Amusa, the Chief Executive of LocateMeGhana.com, said the service is presently available to firms in the following business areas; Spintex Road, Osu, Adabraka, Ridge, Accra , Airport and Ring Road Central.
He further said that other locations such as Labone, Dzowolu , East Legon, Airport Residential, Tema, Takoradi, Kumasi and Cape Coast were being mapped out and will be on the LocateMeGhana.com platform soon.
He said the long-term dream of the service is to enter into every major city in the sub-region and the entire continent.
Describing how the service will operate, Mr. Amusa stated that customers who visit LocateMeGhana.com will be able to find the exact location of the firm by simply dragging the map and using their mouse to click on blocks
located on the map which will display a box showing the firm's name,
address, phone number, fax number, Internet address, and any other
information about the firm.
In an addition to this feature, the box will also display a photograph of the company. This basically takes over the job of the bystander who is constantly asked for locations of places by passers-by. The service gives the best visual driving directions available by enabling the customer view the trip from start to finish.
He also explained that customers will be able to use an inbuilt search
engine to find any registered firm in the database. They will then click on SEARCH and go to the designated category of the firm say, FINANCE for a bank. The search engine will then direct the potential or current customer to the exact location of the firm.
Companies that would greatly benefit from this service are the banks, tourism industry and insurance companies with their wide network of branches. These companies would be able to effectively direct customers to the exact location of their various branches all over the country.
He therefore urged hotels, tourist sites and other travel-related business to come on board. He therefore urged all and sundry to visit the services website www.locatemeghana.com to have a feel of the service.
Plans are being made to make the service available on WAP which will make it easier for customer to PINPOINT business locations with the help of their mobile phone.
