Sulley Muntari will miss Ghana's 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier against Benin, but there are surprise call ups for Lee Arday and Yaw Antwi.
Muntari, jeered by his own fans last Saturday at the San Siro, tops the list of absentees, with John Mensah also absent after he missed Sunderland's trip to Old Trafford with an injury.
There is also no place for Junior Agogo, who is gradually falling down in the pecking order.
Jonathan Quartey, who has failed to break into the Nice first team since his move there from Kaizer Chiefs, is called for the first time in five games.
But the biggest surprise in the call-ups is Arday, who was part of the squad that travelled to Argentina for a friendly last week.
With Ghana already assured of a place at both the Nations Cup and the World Cup following their win over Sudan, interest in the trip to Cotonou has been low.
