Ghana’s Olympic team, the Black Meteors have advanced to the second round of the Caf U-23 Championship qualifiers on a 7-1 aggregate over Liberia.
The second leg of the Ghana-Liberia encounter was brought forward to Saturday by Caf at the request of the Liberians who opted to use the Tamale Stadium as their home venue due to their inability to host international games in their country.
Ghana who won the first leg 2-0 at the same venue last Sunday, this time, thumped the Liberians 5-1 to send them out of the qualifiers.
A brace from young Asante Kotoko striker, Dauda Mohammed, with one each from Tamimu Muntari, Richard Gadze and Baba Mensah did all the damage to the Liberia U-23s.
Ghana moves on to meet Congo in the second qualifying round to be played this month. The Black Meteors will host the first leg on the weekend of May 22-24 with the second leg set for the weekend of May 29-31.
