Rafa Benitez's Napoli missed out on a chance to close the gap on third-placed Roma as they lost 4-2 to Empoli.
The home side went ahead through Massimo Maccarone after just eight minutes, and went in at the break 3-0 up after a Miguel Britos own goal and a Riccardo Saponara effort just before half-time.
Vincent Laurini's own goal on 64 minutes gave Napoli some hope, but almost unbelievably a third own goal was scored as Raul Albiol found his own net to put Empoli 4-1 up.
Mare Hamsik scored in injury time but it was too late, and Napoli's Champions League hopes were hit as they still five points off third place Roma with five games left of the season.
