Sit-in coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Johnson Smith is reveling what he refers to as a “massacre” of their arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the just ended MTN Top4 played at the OheneGyan Sports Stadium.
“When I was coming, I planned using more defenders than attackers because we are playing away, that is why we were able to massacre them,” the elated coach told the media.
The warriors with 10 men piped the phobians by a lone goal in a match where results was of little significance, but was crucial in terms of bragging rights.
And on the day Kwabena Yaro’s rebound after an unpardonable error by goal keeper Laud Quarter was all that Kotoko needed to avenge a painful 1-0 defeat they suffered in the hands of the Phobians in the first leg.
The two tops in the just ended premier league may have been beaten to the Top4 trophy, by Heart of Lions but nothing appeared tantalising to the Kotoko fans than a defeat to the Phobians in Accra.
The Fans waved their red flags, and tooted their horns in wild jubilation after the match which sold everything football could provide, including some dodgy refereeing decisions.
In the days other match, Lions ended the tournament in a spectacular fashion, beating King Faisal by three goals to nil at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
