Joebert Delos Reyes weighed three pounds heavier than Emmanuel Tagoe hours before their WBA International Lightweight Championship bout on Friday.
The Filipino recorded a weight of 135 pounds – the cut off weight – as against Tagoe’s 132 pounds in the official weigh-in ceremony on Thursday.
Tagoe however insists the difference in weights will not be an impediment towards a victory over Reyes.
“It’s all in the mind,” the Game Boy said.
“I have prepared myself so well that [difference in] weights cannot be an obstacle.
“Once he was within the cut off weight then it means all is set to I am ready.”
Tagoe will be having the President of the Baby Jet Promotions Asamoah Gyan at his ringside when he fights on Friday.
The Al Ain ace has been granted permission to travel to Ghana for the bout after scoring to hand the side a 1-0 win over Al Shabab in the Asian Champions League.
