National Sports Council interdicts Armah

Mr Worlanyo Agrah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) has cracked the whip on embattled General Secretary of the Association of Sports for the Disabled, (ASBOD), James Armah. The Chief Executive has interdicted Amarh who is currently been investigated by the National Security for allegedly sending hearing persons to an international friendly match with the Deaf Football Team of Australia some weeks ago. Mr Agrah told the GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday that the decision was influenced by the Council's aim of allowing for due process to ensue in the case which threatened Ghana's relationship with the Australian body. Meanwhile the CEO said he is awaiting a formal report from the National Security on their investigations after which the necessary punitive measures would be taken against the General Secretary. Amarh with this measure is barred from carrying himself as the General Secretary of ASBOD and an entry to his office situated at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra. The General Secretary was invited on Monday, August 3, for questioning by the National Security after the Australia Deaf Association had threatened to drag the ASBOD to the International Sports Confederation for the Disabled (ISCD) for sanctions after allegations that Ghana sent hearing persons to Australia for an international friendly. The Deaf Football Australia also demanded 14,789.00 dollars from Ghana as refund covering the cost of Ghana's contingent in Australia. It is believed the 25 hearing persons who represented Ghana in Australia parted with 4,000 dollars each to get a place on the trip in July. Mr Agrah has since written to all embassies in Accra to disregard any letter from the Council that does not bear his signature Source: GNA
