Youth group believed to be members of the youth wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) went on rampage on Monday, repossessing all toilet facilities in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis that had been taken over by perceived supporters of the National Democratic (NDC).
The youth claim they do not understand why toilet structures that were hitherto occupied by their members were seized upon assumption of office by the ruling rational Democratic Congress (NDC) goons.
They in turn went round to seize and repossess the affected toilets and to hand them back to the origin caretakers, whose contract for the running of the facility had not expired.
In the exercise that was dubbed 'Operation Seize all the Toilets', the NPP youth who took part made the current caretakers to understand that they were occupying the facility illegally.
The group, however, met a stiff opposition at Amanful, a suburb in the metropolis and at the Sekondi Taxi rank in Takoradi, where they engaged in verbal exchanges with their NDC counterparts. The Assembly Member for Amanful East, Mr. Prince Arthur, is believed to be the owner of the particular toilet facility.
The Western Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Solomon Yaw Nkansah, who stood in awe whilst the seizure was going on, told the press that the aim of the NPP youth was to cause mayhem in the metropolis, and warned that the (NDC) would not sit down for that to happen.
He further contended that those who took part in the seizure were a bunch of illiterates and vagabonds.
Solomon's outburst incurred the wrath of the NPP youth who charged on him and verbally abused him.
The NPP youth activists said the manner under which the NDC youth took over the toilet facilities in the metropolis was not only unacceptable but unfortunate, and rejected the claims by the NDC Regional Youth Organizer, describing his argument as baseless and flawed.
The toilet structures were repossessed at New Takoradi, Amanful, Kwesimintsim, Takoradi, Market circle and all the areas where the NDC youth had earlier taken over the said facilities.
