Marshall University College would have to wait for the results of a protest filed against their qualification into the quarter final stage of the Grand finals of the University, Polytechnic and Colleges Basket Ball Championship before popping the champagne.

The University of Ghana and Central University have both filed a protest against the Marshalls accusing them of fielding an unqualified player.

In a nail biting contest, Marshall University College, University of Ghana and Central University all had five (5) points but the Marshalls emerged group winners with a superior goal difference of +18.

The University of Ghana, who were favorites to top the group beat Wisconsin University and Central University but could only manage a goal difference of + 10.

Central University also defeated Marshall University College and Wisconsin University.

The Central University team earned a goal difference of +2, whilst Wisconsin University ended up as the ‘whipping boys’ of the zone with no points.

The organisers are expected to pronounce on the protest against the Marshalls before they will seal qualification into the quarters.
