Abudus to sue regional minister, others

Barring any unforeseen contingency, Abudus would be heading for court to assert their rights as spelt out under the roadmap piloted by the three eminent chiefs. The Ghanaian Observer newspaper reports that among the reliefs which the Abudus would be praying for may include declaration that both the plaintiffs (Abudus) and the defendants (Andanis) are bound by the terms, tenor, provisions, etc of the roadmap to peace issued on the 30th day of March 2006 by the committee of the eminent chiefs, which said the roadmap was approved, endorsed or accepted by representatives of the two royal gates. Also, an order of the honourable court compelling the defendants-Andanis to respect, obey, adhere to the content of the provision of the Roadmap to peace entered into between both the Abudu and Andani gates on 30th day of March 2006 and declaration that by virtue of the terms of agreement arrived at, or reached between the representatives of both the Abudus and the Andani gates/families, neither the defendants nor their agents, servants, representatives can, alienate or transfer, dispose off etc any land or "…of her resources belonging to the Dagbon state…" The paper said there have been series of meetings in Accra, Tamale and Yendi and that the leadership of the Abudu would very soon go to court. A very prominent Ghanaian lawyer who has stood by the Abudus through thick and thin has finished with the writ of summons and the accompanied statement of claim, it stated. This prominent Ghanaian lawyer, who comes from the Brong Ahafo Region and represented the Abudus before the Wuaku Commission has visited Yendi several times to put the pieces together. It has been established that among the Abudu leadership seen championing their cause include Mion Lana, Kworli Gbang-Lana, Mahama Ahmed and Banvum Kworli Lana. Among those to be dragged to court include the Northern Regional Minister, the Kampa-Kuya Naa, the Kpan-Naa Bawah and Mahamadu, Chief of Kpand Kpani. Source: Ghanaian Observer/Ghana
