Ghana has recorded her sixth case of the swine flu virus with the latest, an expaptriate family of four testing positive in Accra.
The father and a daughter tested positive early on Wednesday morning while the wife and another daughter were confirmed Thursday.
The family of four has been quarantined at their home.
Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr. Kyei Faridd, told Joy News that the patients are receiving treatment at home because the infections were at an early stage.
He indicated that authorities have put in place facilities to transfer the patients for treatment “in case there is any complication.”
“We have designated staff who have been trained, who have been with them.”
Early this month, a young woman and her brother visiting from the U.K. were treated and cleared of the swine flu virus.
Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 influenza, is a deadly respiratory disease whose origin is trace to Mexico.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has already declared the disease a pandemic and urged governments to put in place facilities to contain it as the world awaits the production of an H1N1 vaccine next month.
Meanwhile Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Elias Sory has said Ghana has enough medication to contain the infection.
