Mr. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, an Economist, has been appointed the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana to replace Dr. Paul Acquah.
Mr. Amissh-Arthur assumes office on October 01, 2009 when Dr. Paul Acquah’s term of office ends.
Amissh-Arthur’s appointment by President John Atta Mills, according to a statement signed by Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications at the presidency, is in consultation with the Council of State.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur holds a Masters degree in Economics and has lectured in Economics at the University of Ghana and also at the Anambra State College of Education, Awka Anambra State, Nigeria.
The new Governor of the Central Bank also worked as PNDC Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and continued to work in the same capacity during the first term of the Rawlings-led NDC Government.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur, prior to his appointment, worked as a private Consultant/Economist.
