Residents of New Nsuta JJ and New Nsuta Zongo electoral areas in the Obuasi municipality have appealed to the municipal assembly to assist them to rehabilitate the borehole behind the Ghana Telecom offices.
They said the borehole could serve as a source of potable water to the majority of the people in the municipality in the event of inconsistencies in the water supply from the Ghana Water Company (GWCL).
The appeal was made when Mrs Victor Alhassan and Mr John Sackey, both assembly members for the two electoral areas, organised the residents to undertake a four-hour clean-up exercise at the borehole area.
They weeded the surroundings and dredged the borehole.
Mr Adamu Sulemana, unit committee chairman for New Nsuta Zongo, said they were prepared to put the place back to shape to make the water more hygienic as it was in the olden days.
He appealed to the assembly to support them with bags of cement, iron rods and other materials.
