Nii Adjei Kraku II, Chief of Tema, on Saturday commended government for the effort it put in place to solve the pre-mix fuel problem facing fishermen nationwide.
Nii Kraku, who made the commendation at the celebration of the annual Homowo Festival of the chiefs and people of Tema Traditional Area, asked fishermen to exercise some restraint with government in such matters in the future.
The Homowo, meaning hooting at hunger, is an annual festival to commemorate the Gas migration to Ghana many years back from Israel, during which they travelled for a long distance with little food.
Tradition has it that, the Gas settled on a land which had abundant maize from which they prepared meals and thereafter hooted at hunger to signify their triumph over hunger and vowed never again would they experience shortage of food.
Nii Adjei used the occasion to advise his people to forge ahead in unity to speed up development in the area.
Superintendent Eric Amoako, Tema Regional Crime Officer, asked the people to be law-abiding and cautioned that the police would not spare those who tried to foment trouble.
Mr Evans Ashon Narh, Member of Parliament for Tema East, urged residents in the Metropolis to keep their environment clean.
