The Ablekuma South Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr William Akakpo, says Madam Theresa Tagoe, MP for the constituency is a disgrace to the party.
Speaking to the Independent newspaper, Mr Akakpo, who has been a victim of the MP’s alleged brutalities and clandestine activities, said the acts of misconducts by Madam Tagoe in recent time is unbecoming of a Member of Parliament.
Madam Tagoe has been in the news over the past weeks for alleged brutalities meted out personally to party executives and some supporters.
Mr Akakpo told the paper that Madam Tagoe’s behaviour is undemocratic and called party officials to check her before things get out of hand.
He said: “The NPP constitution spells out clearly that any party member that engages in activities that bring the party into disrepute must face disciplinary action.”
He pointed out that the Party must annually examine the behaviour of the MP and apply the appropriate sanctions. The NPP constituency chairman explained that Ms. Tagoe being a lawmaker must be the first person to follow the party’s constitution to the letter instead of applying crude and unconstitutional means to achieve her aims.
Mr. Akakpo admitted that he feels a great deal of pain lashing out at the MP, who is also the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Ministers.
Nevertheless, he said his comments are in the party’s interest.
It would be recalled that just last week, some constituency executives of the NPP besieged the residence of President John Kufuor to present a petition on the recent confusion within the party in the Greater-Accra region and called for prompt and immediate solution to the crisis.
The two constituencies that are currently in total confusion are the Okaikwei South, where Nana Akomea is the MP and that of Theresa Tagoe’s constituency being Ablekuma South.
