Germany defender Mats Hummels seems increasingly likely to join Manchester United as rumours continue to swirl regarding the 26-year-old's future at Borussia Dortmund.
Hummels, a World Cup winner with the Mannschaft in Brazil last summer, has repeatedly said that he is happy in Dortmund and has no desire to move - despite Juergen Klopp's men being in the midst of one of their worst domestic seasons for years.
But with a number of big clubs including United desperate to shore up their defences this summer, Hummels has become one of the most sought-after players in world football.
And reports on Tuesday suggest that the 2013 Champions League finalists would be prepared to let him go for £36 million - a price that Louis van Gaal is apparently happy to pay.
The Daily Mail also claims that Hummels himself has now changed his mind about staying put: "After years of staying loyal to Borussia Dortmund and resisting overtures from United, the Germany centre-back has decided he's ready to cut his ties with the fallen Bundesliga giants and move on," the paper reports.
"Repeated approaches for Hummels always met with stubborn resistance from Dortmund, but they have been forced to back down after their cultured defender indicated he was unhappy with their fall from grace this season…
"Hummels feels he has remained loyal long enough and is hoping United's negotiators can come up with a package that will smooth the way for his long-awaited arrival at Old Trafford."
