Administrative secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee claims ousted President BT Baba is fighting to be re-instated to cover up his corruption.
Anthony Nee-Annang claims to have uncovered a lot of financial malfeasance at the GOC and is asking government to open investigations into BT Baba’s 13-year-old administration.
He has been the GOC’s administrative secretary for more than two decades and he is the latest to wade into the power struggle within the organization.
"Before he came into office, we had an account in the UK and I suspect that during the Commonwealth Games in 2006, some amounts were withdrawn from that account and it hasn't been accounted for," Nee-Annang disclosed to Joy Sports' Ernest Koranteng.
"As for prove, it will come out only when investigated. What actually prompted all these is I went to the Beijing Paralympic Games when I came back instead of paying my per diem he refused to pay so I challenged him."
The dispute over the leadership of the GOC has resulted in Ghana’s disqualification from the World Athletics Championship which is due to be held in Berlin Germany from next week.
But Nee-Annang claims his revelations are far from making BT Baba unpopular.
"I started raising this query before the congress came on and I am not at the GOC on anybody's ticket. I'm not fighting for anybody. I'm fighting for the system to be perfect.
