Some angry drivers in Accra are protesting what say is the arbitrary clamping of their vehicles, saying the action is unjustified.
The drivers complain that the towing company, 24 Hour Towing Company, contracted for the exercise has been ripping them off.
They say they are charged a spot fine of GH¢25 and GH¢75 if their vehicles are towed away without receipts for the payment.
The Director of Operations for the company, John Yentumi told Joy News vehicles that are left in unauthorized places are clamped and towed away by the company on behalf of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
He said offenders often seek to settle their issues on the spot and that usually degenerates into heated arguments.
Mr. Yentumi advised drivers to use the complaints desk of the company to address their concerns.
