MTN subscribers will now be able to perform various banking transactions on their mobile phones.
Known as the MTN Mobile Money. The service allows subscribers to pay for utility services, transfer money and buy air time credits for now.

However the service will be available to only subscribers who register with authorized mobile money agents or partnering banks.
These include going through the normal Know Your Customer (KYC) registration by banks with just your passport or driving license.
Upon registration, subscribers can now create a wallet or what could be called an account and deposit money.
Subscribers may have to get dedicated mobile money SIM cards to enjoy the service MTN mobile money is a cash management service available on your mobile phone anywhere in Ghana.
It could also perform the function of a debit card. MTN is undertaking the project in collaboration with nine banks.
Mobile Money has been available in other countries such as Ivory Coast, Uganda and South Africa but to nights launch will mark the first time in Ghana.
The service is seen as measures by the Central Bank to bring banking services to the doorsteps of the unbanked.
