Emmanuel Mensah, the National number three seed last Sunday played a great game to defeat the number three seed, Owusu Menford 6-3 in a singles tennis exhibition match played at the Akyem Oda tennis court.
In a doubles match, the pair of Owusu Menford and Raymond Hayford in the Under 18 champion defeated the pair of Emmanuel Mensah and Rowland Hayford also an Under 18 player 6-4.
The event was organised by the Birim South District Assembly as part of the Easter celebrations and to popularize the game in the district.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Frank Kwame Busumtwi, stressed the need for people to actively engage in sporting activities to keep them healthy.
He said participating in exercises prevents diseases like diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and obesity.
Mr Busumtwi also said that exercise increases circulation of the blood and eliminates toxins from the body and thus ensure longer healthy life styles.
