All nine municipal and district assemblies in the Oti Region have confirmed the President's Municipal and District Chief Executive (MDCE) nominees.
Seven of the nominees were confirmed by the assembly members of their respective areas by 100 per cent votes while the two others averaged 82.5 per cent.
Those who scored the ultimate are Eric Kwaku Oppong of Biakoye; Dr Samuel Suraj Oppong of Kadjebi, and Martin Kofi Anato for Krachi Nchumuru.
The rest are Safo Nketia of Krachi East; Prosper Addo of Krachi West; Joseph Antwi of Nkwanta-South, and Isaiah Dordoe for Nkwanta North.
Only Parke-Davis Magyigbe, DCE of Jasikan, and Mr Godfried Koffie of Guan scored 86 and 79 per cent respectively.
Build up
Before the confirmation process of the MDCEs at each of the assemblies, all the government appointees were sworn into office by a Judge to ensure a full House. They subsequently elected their respective Presiding Members (PM).
The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, was present at each of the assemblies with the message that the assembly members should vote responsibly to enable him to have the needed support to develop the region.
He said since the districts were where development started from, they should put aside partisan consideration and vote responsibly.
“Our region has a wealth of both the natural and human resources that can contribute towards the socio- economic development of the area” , he said
Collective effort
Mr Gyapong said the Oti Region was a baby, and as such they had to come together and put their shoulders to the wheel to stimulate its total development.
“Development does not know any political party so you should unite to make the Oti Region the winner,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Eric Kwaku Oppong, a 53 year-old Administrator, commended the assembly members for confirming his nomination.
Mr Oppong asked all stakeholders, including the traditional authorities, to come and assist him to seek solutions to the various challenges in the area.
He gave the assurance that his doors were open to everyone to ensure the successful implementation of government programmes and policies.
