The Ghana Athletics Open Championship is set to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The event advertised on the athletics governing body's Facebook page promises to showcase some of the country’s top athletic talents as they compete for honours in various track and field disciplines.
Athletes from clubs and institutions across Ghana will participate in sprint events such as the 100m and 200m, as well as long-distance races, hurdles, and field events like long jump.
With the athletics season gaining momentum, competitors will be eager to set strong early-season performances and fine-tune their form ahead of international competitions.
The championship also serves as an important platform for emerging athletes to make their mark and catch the attention of national selectors.
It is expected to be highly competitive, with seasoned runners such as Edwin Gadyo and Sarfo Ansah looking to maintain their dominance while younger contenders aim to make a breakthrough.
Following this championship, Ghana Athletics will hold its next Open Championship in Cape Coast on April 5.
