Former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has emerged as a candidate for the vacant managerial role at championship side Blackburn Rovers.
The 49-year-old is among several names reportedly being considered for the position.
He recently served as a first-team coach at Coventry City, where he also played between 1998 and 1999.
Boateng, who recently left his role as Mark Robins’ assistant, has expressed his ambition to finally take on a managerial role.
He was part of Ghana’s technical team that qualified Ghana to their third world cup, working under Chris Hughton and Otto Addo.
The former midfielder has vast experience in English football, having played for Coventry, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest. He also coached youth teams at Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.
Other contenders for the Blackburn job include former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, Braga's Carlos Carvalhal, and ex-Young Boys coach Raphael Wicky.
With Blackburn currently sitting fifth in the Championship and fighting for a playoff spot, the club’s management is under pressure to make a quick appointment as they prepare to face Plymouth Argyle this weekend.
