Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah has warned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against overwhelming focus on football.
Football, predominantly the Black Stars, is believed to have much attention of the government.
other sporting disciplines had shared their frustrations over lack of support ahead of major tournaments.
Mensah is calling for equitable share of the national cake.
"This has been a persistent challenge for successive governments. We're in a country where many people equate sports solely with football, and I don't blame them because that's all they see and hear in the news," he stated in an interview on the JoySports Link on JoyFM.
"Funding for the Ministry of Youth and Sports has always been inadequate. A team like the Black Stars virtually consumes the majority of the ministry's budget.
"The pressure and demands of the moment often compel them to focus primarily on football. This is something the NDC should actively guard against."
President John Mahama is expected to announce the new Sports Minister in the coming days.
