Ahmed Hussein-Suale- Murdered

Musician and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central constituency, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has issued a strong demand for updates on the murder investigation of Ahmed Suale, a journalist assassinated in 2019.

In a Facebook post, A Plus revealed that he was invited last year to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, where he provided critical information regarding the case.

He claims to have identified a former government minister as the individual who allegedly contracted assailants to carry out the crime.

A Plus said he also disclosed his source, which he described as "highly credible," during a meeting with the CID director.

A Plus expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation, suggesting that the matter appears to have been sidelined, and called on the CID director to update the public on the status of the case, including whether additional time is required to conclude the investigation.

“It is critical that the CID director updates the public on the progress of the investigation,” A Plus stated. “At this point, it appears the matter has been sidelined.”

Ultimatum and Consequences

The MP has given the Ghana Police Service a 48-hour deadline to provide an update on the case. He warned that if no update is forthcoming, he would use his authority as a Member of Parliament to formally summon the police to brief Parliament on the matter.

“If no update is provided within 48 hours, I will invoke my authority as a Member of Parliament to formally summon the Ghana Police Service to brief Parliament on this case,” he wrote.

A Plus further threatened to disclose what he knows about the case, including the name of the alleged perpetrator, on social media if these measures fail.

“Should that fail, I will utilise my Facebook and other social media platforms to update the nation on what I know about the matter, which shall include the name of the alleged perpetrator,” he warned.
