Ghanaian musician and Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central constituency, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has opened up about how he benefited from a wise counsel proffered by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
In a live video on social media, A Plus intimated that he does not only take advice from people who are generally revered for their status, but also from those that people may despise.
"When I was going to campaign, I went to Shatta Wale. God will not put sense where you think sense is. There are places that it is obvious there is sense but me after I listened to everybody, I went to Shatta Wale," he said.
He spoke about how Shatta Wale taught him about what to do to win people's love and attention.
"Who know what Shatta told me? He said I should go and read about Jesus. He said he watched my campaign and I was just talking. 'They don't do it like that. Jesus Christ, he didn't talk. He gave people food, he gave them fish and bread'.
I realised that it is very true. You have to solve people's problems. I don't have the spirit to open the eyes of a blind man. But I can give somebody who have issues with the eye to go to the hospital. Shatta Wale is a very wise man. He told me to go and help people because when I do that, they will support me. Because people are suffering. There is nobody who doesn't like development," A Plus noted.
A Plus has said that he provided roads, free internet, among things for the people of his constituency prior to the 2024 election.
The Member of Parliament has vouched to make life of his constituents more comfortable by responding to their needs.
As an independent candidate, A Plus secured 14,277 votes in the December 7, 2024 election, defeating the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) incumbent MP, Naana Eyiah Quansah, by a margin of 2,640 votes.
Naana Eyiah Quansah garnered 11,637 votes, while other parliamentary candidates collectively polled 10,112 votes.
