President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising efficient revenue generation as a key strategy for economic revitalisation.
Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana in the Central region, he noted that stabilising Ghana’s economy, addressing inflation, and ensuring fiscal transparency will be immediate priorities under his leadership.
"...Through a homegrown fiscal policy, we intend to alleviate the economic strain on citizens by removing some of the burdensome taxes and prioritize efficient revenue generation,” he said on Thursday, January 9.
President Mahama also stressed the importance of expanding the tax base by integrating more of the informal sector into the tax net “so that we can fairly share the burden and incidence of taxation.”
He explained that “The 24-Hour Economy Policy will play a strategic role in this endeavour, helping us create a modernised and competitive economy that works for everyone."
According to him, the transformation initiative will create sustainable jobs, modernise the economy and unlock Ghana's growth potential.
