President John Mahama has declared that his swearing-in as president marks the beginning of a renewed opportunity to make a significant difference in Ghana's governance and economic management.
Speaking during his inauguration on Tuesday, January 7, President Mahama assured Ghanaians that his administration is committed to resetting the country and addressing the economic challenges that have plagued the nation.
He emphasised the importance of decisive leadership in times of crisis, stating, in moments of difficulty, what a country needs most is leadership with an unwavering desire to act decisively.
President Mahama noted that he intend to be that leader, with the cooperation and support of the Ghanaian people.
The president pledged to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions in the interest of the nation.
“I will have the humility and presence of mind to take responsibility for any challenges and be willing to act firmly and timeously to resolve the challenges that we face as a nation,” he stated.
Acknowledging the dire economic circumstances confronting Ghana, President Mahama promised to approach the challenges with urgency and determination.
He outlined his administration’s commitment to restoring economic stability and fostering a vibrant business and investment climate, ensuring Ghana becomes a hub for commerce and entrepreneurship once again.
The president also emphasised the importance of governance and constitutional reforms to strengthen national institutions.
He reiterated his resolve to ensure accountability and intensify the fight against corruption, pledging to make transparency a cornerstone of his administration.
