The scenic town of Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta region came to life with the second edition of the much-anticipated 2nd edition of Street Jamboree.
The three-day event, organized by Champs Hub Ghana, Champs Lounge, and Jonilar.net, attracted thousands of revellers from across Ghana, with significant participants from the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta Regions.
They were driven by their eagerness to experience December in Ghana in a unique countryside setting and got duly served.
This year’s Street Jamboree featured a variety of engaging activities, including the maiden edition of Champs Soccer Fiesta won by J. United Football Club, the Activation Jamz, Jamboree Walk, Live Concert, and Closing Jamz.
The Jamboree Walk, a highlight of the event, saw hundreds of attendees participating in an invigorating aerobic session led by Loyce Fitness.
It was honoured by the presence of the Chief of Juapong, Togbe Ahadzi Boti III, who praised the successful organization of the event and encouraged patrons to consider Juapong as their end-of-year destination to enjoy its rich culinary delights and warm community.
The live concert was another major draw, with guest appearances by Kpese Boii, one of the most loved talents in the Volta Region, and a 2024 3Music Awards nominee. Over 20 other music talents mounted the stage to showcase their craft, adding to the vibrant and festive atmosphere of the event.
In an interview with the Head of Production of the Street Jamboree, Jonilar emphasized that the event is not just about bringing people together to celebrate the end of the year.
“It serves as an advocacy platform, urging leadership to address the longstanding issues surrounding the Juapong Textile Factory, which has ceased operations for decades.
“The factory's closure has led to a decline in the standard of living for the people of Juapong and neighboring towns such as Somanya and Akosombo”, he said.
Street Jamboree continues to grow in popularity and significance, becoming a key event on Ghana's cultural calendar. With a combination of entertainment and advocacy, it highlights the resilient pirit of the Juapong community.
Juapong, beyond its textile production, is also a vibrant destination for live events, fashion, and street art. It welcomes visitors from all over the world to experience its lifestyle and hospitality.
Street Jamboree was by far the most receptive out-of-Accra event this December, adding to the increasing accolades it has received in the past from prominent media personalities.
