Member of Parliament-elect for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has expressed heartfelt gratitude and confidence following his re-election.
After the official declaration of results on Sunday, 5th January 2025, Boamah stated that he and his team were always assured of victory as long as due process was followed.
His remarks came after a prolonged contest in the constituency was finally resolved.
The Electoral Commission (EC) concluded the collation and declaration of results following a directive from the Accra High Court.
On 4th January, the court mandated the EC to finalize collation processes in Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Ablekuma North, and Techiman South by 6th January 2025.
This directive came in response to mandamus applications filed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates in the affected constituencies, compelling the EC to act.
After being declared the winner, Mr Boamah expressed his appreciation to his supporters and pledged to continue serving the people of Okaikwei Central diligently.
"We had to follow due process, and we always believed that the numbers were not going to change. We thank God for a peaceful collation exercise and a peaceful declaration," he remarked.
In the final tally, Patrick Yaw Boamah polled 21,099 votes, defeating Baba Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured 19,368 votes.
