The Founder of Garden City University College at Kenyasi in the Ashanti region says the institution is poised to introduce new courses, after receiving its charter as an autonomous university.
According to Albert Aquah, the independence of the university will help them mount different courses and programs that will develop the communities.
The university college, prior to acquiring its autonomous certificate, was affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
"There are some courses we identified but couldn't run, and that has hindered our growth over the past years," he stressed.
He said being independent is very crucial to the continuous growth of the university and also in meeting the needs of the country.
"We have ideas to offer certain programs, like speech and communication disorders a new program to help our children," he added.
Albert Aquah disclosed this to JoyNews during a courtesy visit to present the acquired university certificate to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace during the first Awukudee in 2025.
He said Otumfuo has been instrumental in the establishment and progress of the Garden City University College.
"When he was enstooled in 1999, he came to Washington, D.C. to meet with the Ghanaians and beckon all the young men to come home and help build our community, ," Mr. Aquah disclosed.
According to the Founder, Otumfuo has, in so many ways, helped the school and has intervened in settling their land disputes.
The Asantehene held the first Awukudee in the new year to welcome dignitaries at the Manhyia Palace in the beauty of culture and tradition.
