Accra Hearts of Oak are expected to make Seth Osei their first signing of the January transfer window.
The former Ashantigold S.C. midfielder has been training with the Phobians at the club’s training base in Pobiman since the end of November.
Osei started training after serving his thirty-month ban imposed by the Ghana Football Association for his involvement in match-fixing and manipulation.
At the end of December, Hearts coach Aboubakar Ouattara approved the deal and recommended that the club offer him a contract.
Club sources have told Joy Sports that the player was subsequently offered a three-year contract.
However, the midfielder is yet to submit the contract and has not communicated his satisfaction or otherwise with the proposed terms.
Although Hearts remains calm, there are growing concerns that this may be another case of Osei flirting with a club without any intention to commit.
In 2023, the midfielder held talks with Asante Kotoko over a possible transfer. However, the discussions fell through after the player developed cold feet without communicating his reasons to the club.
Hearts are however hopeful that Osei will sign with the club and contribute to their campaign.
The Phobians are currently in sixth place on the league table with 25 points, five fewer than league leaders Kpando Heart of Lions.
Hearts face Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday.
