Kwame Opoku marked his return to Asante Kotoko in style, scoring in their 2-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars in a Matchday 15 Premier League clash on Friday evening at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors, buoyed by their recent fine form, took an early lead through captain Justice Blay, who converted a penalty in the 20th minute after a foul in the box.
Kotoko dominated possession and looked the more threatening side throughout the match.
The highlight of the evening came in the 73rd minute when Opoku, making his first appearance since rejoining the club for a second spell, slotted home the second goal to seal the win.
His goal not only delighted the home crowd but also underlined his importance to the team as they chase league glory.
With this victory, Asante Kotoko leapfrog Gold Stars into second place on the league table, with both teams tied on 27 points.
The win extends Kotoko’s strong record at the Baba Yara Stadium and keeps them firmly in contention for the league title.
