The leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has dismissed rumours suggesting he did not vote for his party in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Speaking at his first media briefing since the conclusion of the general elections, held in Accra on Monday, Cheddar addressed concerns over alleged inconsistencies in the electoral process and called for urgent reforms to safeguard the nation’s democracy.
“The point I am trying to make is, as a nation, don’t we get enough of destroying our own and lying? Yes, my wife voted for me, and I voted for myself,” he clarified, quashing speculation about his loyalty to his party.
Cheddar expressed dismay over issues related to the re-collation and re-declaration of results in some constituencies, urging for a stronger electoral framework. “Our system is not the best system that can really support what we believe in as democracy,” he said.
He also revealed being unaware of some polling station agents assigned to his party during the elections, signaling lapses in the organizational structure of the process.
“It has more to do with us as a country—standing up and making sure that we are protected by a system which we have built with laws and governance to protect the nation,” he emphasized.
Cheddar’s remarks highlight a growing call for transparency and accountability within Ghana’s electoral system, aiming to foster trust and credibility in future elections.
