The Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has increased to eight the number of faculties making up the University.

This follows the introduction of three new faculties to beef up the academic activities of the University.

The introduction of these faculties, Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences, Faculty of Maritime and Nautical Studies and Faculty of Media Technology and Liberal Studies, formally CELLIBS, brings the total number of faculties at the University to eight (8).

These new faculties have been introduced in an expansion drive towards creating new academic opportunities.

The ultimate goal of the University is to enhance human resource development in the school for the benefit of industries across the country, according to the Vice Chancellor Rev Professor John Frank Eshun.

In addition, the University has introduced an inter-faculty Research and Publication ranking system to assess, promote, and enhance research culture and academic performance.

These initiatives introduced by the University, have all been aimed at nurturing scholarly excellence among academic staff, increasing the University's visibility, and improving its standing in research rankings.

Consequently, Rev. Prof John Frank Eshun, Vice Chancellor of the University, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to delivering quality education, fostering robust industry partnerships, and equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their chosen fields.

Addressing the graduates and the academic community at the 24th Congregation of the University on Saturday 20th December 2024, the University’s Vice Chancellor said TTU would neither renege on its pursuit of excellence nor succumb to challenges.

"We pledge to uphold our mission of academic excellence, research, innovation, and community engagement, ensuring that today's graduates are well-prepared to make meaningful contributions to society and industry" he assured.

Additionally, he said the University remains dedicated to maintaining a supportive and conducive learning environment, while continually striving to enhance the overall student experience.

"In our ongoing commitment to expanding academic opportunities, the university has established 3 new faculties: the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences, the Faculty of Maritime and Nautical Studies and the Faculty of Media Technology and Liberal Studies formally CELLIBS, making a total of eight faculties".

Rev. Prof John Frank Eshun said the University currently offers a range of Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Master of Technology (MTech) programmes, catering for the diverse needs of students and industry.

"As part of our commitment to academic excellence and innovation, we are in the process of introducing PhD programmes in Business Analytics and Technology Management to expand our academic portfolio. Our long-term goal is to develop PhD programmes across all faculties, ensuring that we provide advanced research and learning opportunities that align with the evolving demands of both academia and industry" he emphasized.

According to the Vice Chancellor, new programmes have also been introduced this year, namely BSc. Event Management, BSc. Real Estate Management, and B. Tech. Media and Communication Technology.
Explaining the speed of progress made by the University, the proactive Vice Chancellor said every graduation ceremony offers the University a defining moment to celebrate the magnitude of achievements with the students, partners, stakeholders, and the global community.

"It is also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our graduates to commemorate the completion of a remarkable chapter in their lives, alongside their families and friends, while cherishing the memories of a significant part of their educational journey. As we stand on the threshold of this graduation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to God, recognizing His protection, guidance, and blessings throughout the academic year. We have all worked diligently, and it is by His grace that we have come this far, both as individuals and as an institution" he remarked.

The Takoradi Technical University currently has a 16,728 student population and 352 academic staff as of 20th December 2024, according to the Vice Chancellor Rev. Prof John Frank Eshun.
